Data Protection
in Uzbekistan

The current Uzbek data protection law contains potential obstacles that jeopardise dynamic economic growth. The resolution of these barriers in the Uzbek regulation offers the opportunity to model standardisation for C5, the Central Asian economic area.

  • Challenges for Uzbek regulation emerge from analyses of the jurisdictions CH, CN, EU, KZ, RU, SG, US and UZ.
  • Two serious obstacles to the dynamic development of the digital economy were identified for Uzbekistan.
  • The five Central Asian states should examine the option of a standardised data protection area.
